TorchesAcrossAmerica

Torches Across America (TAA) is a motorcycle ride for all riders who want to show their respect to everyone who lost their lives and to the family's who lost their loved ones on that sad morning of September 11, 2001. TAA takes nine days, starting on the West Coast (Sept 3rd). Ride the whole trip, just through your state or a few miles when it comes in your area. If you can not take time to ride on the ride, everyone is welcome to be with us at any of the stops we make going across the country.

TAA Ride Update Motels My Wife And I Are Staying At

Hi Everyone,

Here are all the motels my wife and I will be staying at except for
Troy, IL. The ones putting everything together in Troy, IL, need to
know how many riders will be spending the night so they can get us the
best price. So please sign up on the www.torchesacrossamerica.com web
site for I can give them a number.

Suzanne Schneider emailed me and told me they charged her $ 115.00
plus tax at " The Holland Hotel ", (once Holland Motor Lodge), and I called them today and they
told me prices have gone up. I talked to Quentin Bristow the General Manager
and he told me when making your reservation to ask for him and to let
him know your with Torches Across America. So please call him Suzanne
for he can change yours. You can make reservations at The Holland Hotel by phone or sending an email to Quentin Bristow and the email address is,  TheHollandHotel@yahoo.com.

I can not stress this enough as we get closer to September 11, 2012,
motel rates will go up. So make your reservation now and if you can not make the trip you can
always cancel. This way you get the best price. In the case of The Holland Hotel
you will get a room but if you do not make an early reservation you might not get to stay there because it is not that big and groups do book there for 9/11/.

When calling an asking for reservations always ask for the (Torches

2012 Torches Across America Ride design contest ends June 1, 2012

Hi Everyone,

I am updating the dead line date for the 2012 Torches Across America Ride design contest again because I was asked how many colors can be in it and how it was going to be put on the shirts.

The dead line for the 2012 TAA ride design contest is June 1, 2012. So get your designs in as soon as possible. Remember it is open to any child or adult in the world.

The design needs to be about the mission of the ride. Only six colors can be in the design. There has to be a purple heart somewhere in it for our wounded warriors and a gold star somewhere in it for our lost warriors that will never be forgotten. Torches Across America needs to be on the top. The year 2012 also needs to be on it. And on the bottom it should read "9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride" and "In Memory Honor And Support".

The shirts will be silk screened

Send the designs to Torches Across America, P.O. Box 531, Kimberling City, MO 65686.

Have a great day, Gary Covert.

5/12/2012 TAA Ride Update Motels and Hotels

Hi Everyone,

I need to start the ride update with a correction, Mike Mohn told me Kingman, AZ is on the same time zone as California so do not change your watches on September 4, 2012 when going from Imperial Beach, CA, to Kingman, AZ. But you will need to change your watch on September 5, 2012 when going from Kingman, AZ, to Albuquerque, NM.

The dead line for the 2012 TAA ride design contest is coming up June 1, 2012. So get your designs in as soon as possible. Remember it is open to any child or adult in the world.

Some of you have asked for a list of motels and hotels my wife and I are going to be staying at. Most of them are ones we have stayed at in the past. A couple of them have changed their names but they are all looking forward to seeing us again.

Remember you can stay at whatever motel or hotel you want but these are the ones my wife and I are staying at. I also try to get them to give us a good price and I was very surprised how close they are to the 2007 prices they gave us.

Some of these motels and hotels you can make your reservation by internet or phone. I will tell you which motels you can make reservations by internet and the code you have to have when making the reservation. When making a phone reservation you need to ask for the Torches Across America room rate.

Imperial Beach, San Diego, CA, area I do not know of one at this time.

Evening of September 4, 2012; Kingman, AZ, Travel Lodge, 3275 Andy Devine Ave., Kingman, AZ, 86401, 928-757-1188. 1 to 2 people $ 55.00 plus tax and 2 to 4 people $ 65.00 plus tax.

Evening of September 5, 2012; Albuquerque, NM, Western Star (once the Comfort Inn), 2015 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87107, 505-881-3210. They are giving us a great price and you will be able to make reservations by internet or phone but I just talked to Michelle Friday and she needs to enter the information into the motel computer so I will tell you the price later.

Evening of September 6, 2012; Amarillo, TX, Holiday Inn, 1911 I-40 East, Amarillo, TX, 79102, 806-372-8741. I just saw the check in and out dates on the agreement form they sent me yesterday and I guess I told them the wrong days so I will get back to you when everything is taken care of.

Evening of September 7, 2012; Tulsa, OK, Econo Lodge, 11629 East Skelly Dr., Tulsa, OK, 74128, 918-437-9200. 1 bed 2 people $ 40.00 plus tax, 2 beds 2 people $ 49.00 plus tax.

Evening of September 8, 2012; Troy, IL. Everyone who is helping put everything together in Troy would like me to give them an idea of how many riders are coming for they can get motels set up for us. So if everyone that has not told me so far if your coming please do for I can let them know.

Evening of September 9, 2012; Cambridge, OH, Southgate Hotel (once Holiday Inn), 2248 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge, OH, 43725, 740-432-7313. 1 to 2 people $ 65.00 plus tax and 2 to 4 people $ 75.00 plus tax.

Evening of September 10, 2012; Jersey City, NJ, Holland Motor Lodge, 175 12th. St., Jersey City, NJ, 07310, 201-963-6200. For my wife and I it is $ 109.00 plus tax. I did not ask them for a group rate. If your going or thanking about going on the ride you better make reservations now because their rooms will not last long. We can park our bike, trike, car or truck. in the Holland Motor Lodge parking lot or at the Hoboken MC Club House parking lot for the evening.

Evening of September 11, 2012; Allentown, PA, Howard Johnson Inn & Suites, 3220 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown, PA, 18103, 610-439-4000. 1 to 4 people $ 59.00 plus tax.
